Andre Banks
Founder and CEO
Andre Banks is founder and CEO of A/B Partners. With over 20 years of political communications and agency experience, Andre brings best-in-class creative strategies and deep expertise in social movements to move critical voices from the margins to the mainstream. Prior to founding A/B in 2018, Andre was Executive Vice President for Social Impact & Philanthropy at BerlinRosen, a leading national public relations and strategic communications firm. At BerlinRosen, Andre led communications strategy, staff-management, and business development for the 20-person practice area. Andre’s portfolio included philanthropy, criminal justice reform, international human rights, LGBTQ rights, voting and civil rights, sustainability, and media and culture. Before joining BerlinRosen, Andre was founding partner at Purpose and the co-founder and former director of All Out, a global campaigning organization with more than 2.2 million members leading the global push towards LGBT equality. He currently serves as the chair of the board at Color Of Change, and as a staff member leading the organization in its early years.

Christina Peña Brower
Founding Partner, Head of Strategy
Christina is a founding partner of A/B Partners and leads the narrative and communications strategy practice. With 13 years of experience in organizational strategy and impact communications, Christina is an advisor to the boldest nonprofits, philanthropists, and global brands working to address complex challenges from climate change and racial justice to human rights and global health. She brings deep expertise in movement building and political communications. Previously she was Vice President of Social Impact & Philanthropy at Berlin Rosen, leading a team of 20 working on criminal justice reform, higher education, voting rights, racial justice and more. Christina is the former strategy director of We Mean Business, a business coalition led by Nike and IKEA to drive corporate and political action on climate change. She was also a founding member and Head of Business Operations at Purpose, overseeing its growth strategy and expansion across three countries.

Ashley Bryant
Managing Partner
Ashley Bryant leads A/B’s political engagement practice. After 12+ years of a unique professional career of brand building, digital marketing, and political strategy Ashley sits at the intersection of culture, politics, and activism. After serving as the Ohio Digital Director for the 2012 re-election campaign of President Barack Obama, she left the private sector to focus her efforts on building political power in the communities that need it the most. Prior to A/B, Ashley was a VP at 270 Strategies, Federal Digital Director at MoveOn and has advised several non-profits, and campaigns such as Color of Change, Planned Parenthood, Higher Heights for America, etc on strategic engagement and political mobilization as an independent consultant encouraging action through integrated online and offline strategies.

Clarence Kwan
Partner, Head of Creative
Clarence is brings over 15 years experience leading teams, building brands and creating compelling, culturally relevant content. Strategy and creative direction are hard-wired into his decision-making process, working seamlessly as a creative strategist, art director, writer and marketer. He has led world-class organizations to find their identity, and create globally recognized, award-winning work. Past clients include adidas, Amazon, Canada Goose, Doctors Without Borders, IKEA, Lululemon, McDonald’s, Nike, New Era, Olympic Games, Oh! Henry, Red Bull, Red Cross, Timberland and Vice. As cultural contributor, Clarence has been involved in numerous art projects. His writing and contributions have been featured at the MOMA, Complex, Milk Magazine and Hypebeast. Clarence comes to A/B after a long tenure at Concrete Design as a key member of their senior leadership team.

Maisha C. Leek
Managing Director
Maisha C. Leek is an advisor and investor in start-ups. She has been central to the most significant events companies face including, launch and growth, capital raises, and structuring teams. She is a former chief of staff of the U. S. Congress where she oversaw a $54b portfolio that included the federal government's investments in science and technology. As an operating partner at an NYC-based venture fund, she provided strategic support to a portfolio of 12 direct-to-consumer start-ups and advised Nike’s Innovation Team on start-up business design and expanding their investment network. She managed half the P&L for the firm's enterprise business advising Fortune 10 companies. Prior to venture investing, she managed the executive team and led investor relations at a high-growth startup ($70m in Series A) backed by Andreessen Horowitz, Alphabet, Floodgate, and Main Street Advisors. She is a trustee of her alma mater, Trinity College (D.C.), and a board member of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Service Year Alliance, and vote.org, a Y-combinator company.
Alistair Stephenson
Chief of Staff
Alistair Stephenson joins A/B as Chief of Staff with expertise in brand and digital strategy. He comes with extensive campaign experience across advocacy and corporate environments, working across the US and Australia. Alistair’s most recent workplace was the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), where he led integrated digital organizing campaigns in Michigan for a variety of issues, particularly across immigration, LGBTI and racial justice. For years, he led strategy for justice-oriented women’s rights organizations, including the Women’s March Australia and global NGO ActionAid, where he served as board director. Alistair began at corporate branding and advertising agencies M&C Saatchi, Publicis.Sapient and Droga5.

Krishana Davis
Head of Media and Campaigns
Krishana Davis is an award-winning creative and media strategist, who works with political organizations, non-profits, advocacy campaigns, agencies and businesses to craft compelling narratives that pull at their audiences’ hearts and minds. Prior to joining A/B Partners, she led several multi-million dollar, multi-cycle digital advertising and communications campaigns aimed at political engagement and power building for communities of color. Krishana was a staff writer for The Baltimore Sun and The Afro-American Newspaper, and has penned pieces for the BBC, NBC and other outlets.Transitioning from journalism to fiction, Krishana continues to write young adult and adult speculative fiction, horror and science fiction using an afrofuturism lens. Krishana received her B..A. in political science from Morgan State University and a M.P.A. from The University of Baltimore. In 2021, Krishana was named one of PR Week’s Women to Watch.

Sian Lewis
Head of Research
Sian Lewis is a seasoned data science, strategy, and research leader. She conducts research for A/B Partners and serves as Chief Data Scientist and Analytics team manager at Booz Allen Hamilton. In 2020, Sian produced a partnership with Girl Up, the United Nations’ program to deliver STEM education to girls in over 110 countries. Since 2018, Sian serves as the Data Science instructor for General Assembly’s Data Science Immersive program. She began her career at Jobs with Justice and American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. She advised dozens of campaigns and nonprofit organizations on strategy and research. She regularly lectures on mitigating algorithmic racism. For her contributions to data science, research, and social good, Sian is a 2021 Black Engineer of the Year Modern Day Technology Leader awardee, a 2020 Women of Color in Stem All Star awardee, a 2019 DCFemTech awardee, and a 2017 Prince George’s County, MD Forty Under 40 honoree for Public Service.

Mia Steinberg
Research Director
Mia Steinberg joined A/B as a Research Manager after working with nonprofits and social service agencies to help them understand their programs through data. Most recently, she headed the Measurement and Evaluation department at Anti-Defamation League (ADL) where she helped demonstrate the impact of the organization’s anti-bias programs. She received a Ph.D. in social psychology from Miami University, where her research focused on diversity, equity and inclusion. While completing a postdoc at CSU Long Beach, Mia developed an intervention aimed at increasing retention among college students and also served as program evaluator on an NIH-funded grant aimed at increasing participation in biomedical fields. Mia’s work on broadening participation in STEM fields has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology and the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.

Tanya Arrayales
Director of Business Operations
Tania Arrayales joins A/B Partners as Director of Business Operations. She joins A/B from a background hospitality, startups, and politics. Most recently, she served as Chief of Staff for a New York City congressional campaign. Before politics she was a founding employee at StyleLend, a graduate from YCombinator. She is the co-founder of Fashion of Tomorrow, member of AmplifyHer and is passionate about immigration and racial justice.

Joseph Huff-Hannon
Strategy Director
Joseph Huff-Hannon comes to A/B with over 15 years of experience in issue and electoral campaigning, working in the US, and across Latin America. At global campaigning network Avaaz, Joseph's most recent professional home, he raised millions online to back grassroots groups and creative projects worldwide, and led campaigns on climate, conservation, human rights, anti-corruption and more. In 2018 he helped set up a novel anti-disinformation research team in Brazil, to track and analyze the tsunami of fake news that aided and abetted the rise of right-wing Jair Bolsonaro to the presidency. Joseph was also on the founding campaigns team, with Andre Banks, of All Out, where he helped develop and grow the organization’s brand, partnership network, and its global membership from scratch. Joseph is also a co-founder of the activist training program The Yes Lab, and is a published author and playwright.

Jinah Lee
Creative Director
Jinah Lee is a multi-hyphenate creative director with a wide ranging skill set that has taken her 10+ years of her career across a range of disciplines including creative direction, branding, UI, art direction, graphic design, and fashion. She has spearheaded award-winning campaigns for prestigious brands including BMW, Mercedes Benz, and Nike before moving to New York to focus on fashion brands such as Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., Sephora, and served as a judge and Awards Advisory Board Member at Applied Arts.

Nathalie Smith
Director of Recruitment
Nathalie started her professional career at Update Inc. where she created and managed her own division focused on recruiting and placing creative talent. Under her leadership, Update attracted more diverse talent which resulted in an integrated thriving culture that still exists. On the side, Nathalie engages in numerous social justice initiatives. She is co-founder of the Careers in Context (formerly SPARK) Program at Borough of Manhattan Community College, Learning Academy (BMCC), which helps at-risk students develop professional skills, build resumes, create portfolios and connect with corporate entities. Creating a pipeline for diverse candidates at the entry point to corporate career choice. Internationally, she is a Founding Board Member of the Duncan Tree Foundation. The Foundation’s express mission is to bring health, wellness and medical treatment to underserved communities; and they have sponsored over 100 surgeries in Jamaica, Trinidad and the Philippines.

Ken Miles
Strategy Director
Ken Miles’ passion and work amplifies the vibrant and complex stories of communities and community partners. He joins A/B as a Strategy Director after a 10+ year career across digital advertising, strategy, social impact consulting, nonprofit leadership, branding, and strategic partnerships. His experiences center culture, access, and opportunity across a range of stakeholder groups including community development organizations, media companies, academic institutions, and celebrity-led nonprofits. His work focuses on issue areas that include voting rights, educational equity, youth development, public health, and public interest tech. Centering the stories and meaningful insights of those with the greatest need, these efforts combine creative engagement strategies to measurably increase awareness and drive policy improvements.

Justin Fulton
Senior Designer
Justin Fulton is a multi-disciplinary creative who's worked directly with visionaries — creative directors and CEOs — to find their distinct brand identities, weaving authentic narrative with informed strategy to produce compelling print and digital experiences. Justin joins A/B after a long tenure in fashion, where he has worn a range hats, working both in-house at brands and for boutique agencies to lead the design of global fashion campaigns and art direct luxury e-commerce front-ends. He brings a dedication to service, high attention to detail, and passion for photography, which have only been sharpened working for the likes of CR Fashion Book, Vince, Nili Lotan and Max Mara. Justin is also co-creator of The Very Black Project, a social movement birthed in 2014 from “kitchen talks” between friends, which continues to foster a discourse around the visibility and healing of all Black lives. Clean design, thoughtful choices and an honest, human-centered approach pervade his practice.

Cora Kim
Senior Designer
Cora Kim is a graphic designer based in Montreal, Canada. She has been developing her skills for nearly a decade, working with illustration, photo collage, art directing campaigns and developing brand identities for local artists, festivals and nonprofits. Her evolution into graphic design began while exploring a career in fashion. This led her to fibre arts, ceramics, dance, music and acting, all of which inform her design. She is a co-founder of the Montreal Kiki Ballroom Alliance, a non-profit providing opportunities and resources for BIPOC queer/trans youth within the Montreal Ballroom community. Cora is part of the international House of Amazon, led by Icon Leiomy Maldonado, and has a line of porcelain tableware under the name Mikaroc.

Aja Campbell
Senior Strategist & Project Operations
Aja serves as the senior strategist for project operations at A/B and believes the core of moving from idea to influence is a smooth, well run work plan. She works with team strategists to streamline team and client communications, project timelines, establishing workflow and project operations. She most recently is coming off of the Warren for President campaign, where she managed communications between states digital teams and the national mobilization team. Before joining the campaign, Aja has always worked with movement based organizations, activating communities around the country, providing guidance and insight on how to engage activists, voters, and volunteers.

Amy Jacobs
Senior Copywriter
Amy is a Senior Copywriter amplifying authentic stories to make a cultural impact. She draws on years of experience developing campaigns for nonprofits like Amnesty International, The Nature Conservancy and Habitat for Humanity of NYC. Her collaborative efforts have brought consumer and B2B brands to market, fundraised millions in charitable donations and won several creative awards. Before joining A/B, she served as Copywriter at agencies True North Inc and Hoffman York and as Communications & Marketing Manager for Foundation Communities, an Austin housing nonprofit. From headlines to fine print, Amy writes to enhance equity and accessibility for all audiences.

Isabella Sehringer
Strategist
Isabella Sehringer is a New Jersey-based creative producer with a passion for digital film and storytelling. From a young age, she would film and edit videos to inform, inspire, and move her audience; naturally, she progressed to working independently with non-profits, publications, and brands to produce documentaries and digital content. Growing up between the United States and Argentina, her personal work is rooted in sharing and amplifying the stories of Latinos, women of color, and immigrants. Isabella holds a B.A. in Communication and Latino & Caribbean Studies from Rutgers University-New Brunswick.

Kahlil Shepard
Senior Associate
Kahlil Shepard is a multifaceted producer working at the intersection of experiential production, communications, and visual storytelling. Before joining A/B, Kahlil worked as a coordinator for the past two New York Fashion Weeks, while also freelancing on commercial projects for top brands such as Kith, Apple Music and Cartier. While finishing his B.S in journalism, he interned at a number of NGO’s and nonprofits concentrating on key issues affecting minority communities including labor rights, indigenous poverty, and racial disparities within education. Kahlil completed a graduate program in advanced media production technology at VCU School of the Arts in spring of 2019.

Jina Alhenawi
Graphic Designer
Jina is a multidisciplinary artist and designer based in New Jersey and a recent graduate from Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in graphic design and a concentration in social justice. She found her way to A/B to begin her career working at the intersection of social impact and design and to serve important causes that amplify BIPOC voices. She finds fulfillment in using the power of design to serve and advocate for marginalized communities, and by working with kindness, empathy, and sensitivity, she is able to connect deeply with her community and her work.

Rey Carlson
Graphic Designer
Rey has had a passion for graphic design ever since she pirated Adobe Photoshop for the first time in middle school and never looked back. Previously, Rey has worked for and with Mother NY, Penguin Random House, artist and educator Nontsikelelo Mutiti, and VCU’s Student Media Center and the Department of Graphic Design. In their spare time they are a member of the queer and trans Asian multi-format publisher OTHER PUBLISHING with work retailed and showcased across the country at NYPL, Printed Matter (Chelsea), XXXI, Wolfman Books, and William & Mary’s Special Collections.

Abby Merz
Graphic Designer
Abby is a multidisciplinary visual designer and synesthete with a knack for ideating creative solutions and delivering dynamic experiences. She graduated with a BFA in Visual Communication from The University of Oklahoma School of Visual Arts, where she refined her artistic skills and picked up an inclination for medium, barrier, and expectation breaking. As an energetic and motivated creative thinker and problem solver, Abby has utilized her love for design to improve communication, redefine experiences, and elevate brands of all sizes across industries and mediums. As an acutely empathetic person, Abby's passion drives her to pursue, understand, and solve the kind of problems that go beyond industry or expectation disruption to inspire and drive lasting change.

Camille Shimshak
Graphic Designer
Camille Shimshak is an interdisciplinary artist and designer. Now in her final year at Tufts University, Camille is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in sociology alongside a Bachelor of Fine Arts from School of the Museum of Fine Arts. Camille has combined her interest in the sociological impact of contemporary media with her lifelong passion for visual art, employing design as a tool to promote social change. Before joining A/B Partners, Camille was a member of the design teams at the Global Climate Justice Center, Walter Bernard Consultancy, and Plaza Noahui.

Jay St. James
Graphic Designer
Jay is a New York City based graphic designer and visual creator. With over 8 years of experience in the fashion industry behind her, she came to A/B thirsty for more. To tell the stories that actually need to be heard, to make them visually impactful and to excite others to listen. Always exploring new artistic mediums, she constantly seeks inspiration through working with her hands in crafts such as wood working, hand lettering, and film photography. Completely self taught, Jay has propelled herself through her career with hard word, dedication, and a thrilling passion to create as far as the eye can see.

Kamryn Jones
Strategic Communication Intern
As a Media Studies major at the University of Richmond, Kamryn is dedicated to illustrating narratives of people with intersectional identities through different mediums. Constantly witnessing the omission of people of the global majority in media encouraged Kamryn to create the interdisciplinary Media Studies major program at her school to elevate her voice, sharpen her writing skills in a new context, and most importantly, expose her peers to social issues they are unaware of. Her role at A/B Partners allows her to delve deeper into her interests in sociology and rhetoric and communication studies to create effective social impact through media.

Julianne Le
Creative Intern
Julianne Le is a creative designer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a self-taught designer, she’s passionate about bridging the gap between social advocacy and creative design and has experience designing across several industries including politics, media, fashion, and contemporary culture. Prior to joining A/B as a creative intern, Julianne worked with 50+1 Strategies as a creative and digital fellow, designing for clients like Movement For Black Lives and issue areas like criminal justice and educational reform. Julianne is currently finishing up her last year at the University of California, Berkeley where she studies Political Science and Media Studies.

As an advisor to major nonprofits and global brands, she has designed and led strategic initiatives to address complex challenges from climate change and women's leadership to global health and economic justice. Prior to joining A/B, Christina was Vice President of Social Impact at BerlinRosen, where she helped to create and lead a new strategic communications practice within the national public relations firm.

Ashley Bryant

Carolyn Agrimis
Operations Associate
Carolyn Agrimis is an Operations Associate and Executive Assistant at A/B Partners. Before joining the team, she worked in non-profit development in women’s rights and child education spaces with Girl Rising and the VH1 Save the Music Foundation. Prior to joining the nonprofit development world, she worked in journalism with a focus on child poverty in the Pacific Northwest. Her love of storytelling is what brought her into the social impact space and she is always on the lookout for human interest stories that will broaden others’ perspectives. Carolyn graduated from the University of Oregon with a B.A. in Journalism with an Arabic studies minor.

Justin Fulton
Senior Art Director
Justin Fulton is a multi-disciplinary creative who has worked directly with visionaries — global creative directors, fashion designers, CEOs — to capture the essence of their ideas, while taking into account their commerce needs, creating strategic and compelling brand content and digital experiences. Before joining A/B, Justin amassed over 10 years working primarily within luxury fashion and lifestyle, wearing multiple creative hats at agencies, brands, and publications like CR Fashion Book, Jed Root, Vince and Max Mara. In these spaces his love for visual narrative unfolded, but something was missing. It was his personal project — the creation of the Very Black t-shirt and subsequent co-founding of The Very Black Project in 2014 — where a desire to take his talents into the spaces of philanthropy and social impact was fostered. Justin brings with him to A/B a mission to harness the power of beautiful design and authentic storytelling to amplify the voices of the systemically oppressed. A clean design sensibility, inspired choices and a thoughtful, at times subversive approach, pervade his work.

Jeremy Knight
Strategy Director
Jeremy Knight is a cultural strategist telling undeniable stories that drive people to act. He has spent his career untangling complex issues in media, culture, and politics; all to help people from marginalized communities see their interests, style, and aspirations reflected in the media and products they consume. His previous work leading communications at Students for Education Reform and Bellwether Education Partners leveraged marketing and grassroots organizing to improve schooling in America. Jeremy has built highly effective teams, advised dozens of social justice organizations, and trained hundreds of young activists. He has led digital strategy for a $20 million initiative on behalf of the U.S. Department of Education, worked with the City of Sydney to improve commuter and recreational cycling rates in the city, and led a winning field effort for a contentious school board race in Los Angeles.

Clarence is brings over 15 years experience leading teams, building brands and creating compelling, culturally relevant content. Strategy and creative direction are hard-wired into his decision-making process, working seamlessly as a creative strategist, art director, writer and marketer. He has led world-class organizations to find their identity, and create globally recognized, award-winning work. Past clients include adidas, Amazon, Canada Goose, Doctors Without Borders, IKEA, Lululemon, McDonald’s, Nike, New Era, Olympic Games, Oh! Henry, Red Bull, Red Cross, Timberland and Vice. As cultural contributor, Clarence has been involved in numerous art projects. His writing and contributions have been featured at the MOMA, Complex, Milk Magazine and Hypebeast. Clarence comes to A/B after a long tenure at Concrete Design as a key member of their senior leadership team.

Ana Murillo
Associate
Ana uses storytelling as a revolutionary means to create innovative, holistic, and radical approaches to community-building and healing. Her perspective is influenced by political theories such as Pan-Africanism, Critical Race Theory, Intersectionality, and Africana Womanism. Before joining A/B Partners, Ana was a Coro Fellow where she used her marketing and communications expertise to carry out social impact projects at Accenture, the NYC Department of Buildings, Via Collective, Covenant House International, and Worker’s Justice Project. Ana graduated Cum Laude from the City College of New York with a B.A in Political Science and International Studies, and intends to utilize her knowledge to pursue a master’s in Urban Planning.

Jennifer Ryder
Senior Associate
Jennifer Ryder is a Senior Associate at A/B Partners working across a range of areas including strategy development, content production and project management. Jennifer has previously worked with the National Youth Council of Ireland, EMILY’s List, and Women in Foreign Policy in marketing, communications, and events. A Dublin native, Jennifer graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a B.A. in History and Political Science.

Isabella Sehringer
Strategist
Isabella Sehringer is a New Jersey-based creative producer with a passion for digital film and storytelling. From a young age, she would film and edit videos to inform, inspire, and move her audience; naturally, she progressed to working independently with non-profits, publications, and brands to produce documentaries and digital content. Growing up between the United States and Argentina, her personal work is rooted in sharing and amplifying the stories of Latinos, women of color, and immigrants. Isabella holds a B.A. in Communication and Latino & Caribbean Studies from Rutgers University-New Brunswick.

Kahlil Shepard
Associate
Kahlil Shepard is a multifaceted producer working at the intersection of experiential production, communications, and visual storytelling. Before joining A/B, Kahlil worked as a coordinator for the past two New York Fashion Weeks, while also freelancing on commercial projects for top brands such as Kith , Apple Music and Cartier. While finishing his B.S in journalism, he interned at a number of NGO’s and nonprofits concentrating on key issues affecting minority communities including labor rights, indigenous poverty, and racial disparities within education. Kahlil completed a graduate program in advanced media production technology at VCU School of the Arts in spring of 2019.

Carmela Wilkins
Graphic Designer
Carmela Wilkins is a Graphic Designer with A/B Partners. With a dedication to working in philanthropy, non-profit, and social impact spaces, Carmela is no stranger to wearing many hats. She has previously worked for the McNulty Foundation as a Communications Coordinator while freelancing as a Graphic Designer. At the intersection of her creative practice, environmental justice, the African diaspora, and identity have harmonized through group exhibitions, artist residencies, climate advocacy, and lobbying. Carmela is bringing her diverse background to A/B partners to elicit change with vulnerable communities through human-centered design and inclusive creative strategies.
